By day, Dr. Nikki Adenike is a successful trauma surgeon, accustomed to being in control of her life. But her love life isn't even close. By night, Nikki secretly trolls the 'net for someone to satisfy her deepest desire: a dominant male who will make all of her passionate D/s dreams come true. After she drums up enough courage, she posts an ad on a website and receives a response from Richard...smooth-talking, and very much attuned to her desires. He charms her, and after many a lengthy, graphic email exchange, she wants to make the leap into real-time and meet the sweetest man ever.

She waits not very patiently in a bar until she figures out he's a no-show. On the way to her car, she's attacked, and rescued at the last second by her best friend. He isn't sweet, delicious Richard. He's a serial killer the Cleveland press has dubbed "Lucifer."

Do I tell more? No. But there has to be a hero to counteract the evil -- handsome, dangerous Detective Thomas Cavanagh. Sparks fly after the usual love-hate starting point, and the sexual encounters are realistic...and suits Nikki's desires down to her toes.

My first experience with Jaid Black was The Possession. It's purely adult erotica, with a skimpy plotline and overly-wrought dialogue and really really really hot sex. The main characters are not wearing any clothes for 99% of the book. Black's first foray into mainstream publishing has mostly-clothed characters and overly-wrought dialogue and really really really hot sex.

And like sex, it's good for a few hours and then I need a rest.
