A Grave Mistake: Stella Cameron

When I picked this up off the library shelf, I didn't notice that this book is one in a series set in the small Louisiana town of Toussaint. Perhaps it would have made a difference in my opinion had I read the previous novels. After finding out I've missed all the fun, I feel like an interloper at a family reunion. Not that there's much fun to be had.

I'm not saying it was a grave mistake to read this, but it left a lot to be desired. Honestly, it's a glum book...both in character, and for this reader. The book jacket (which is misleading, as usual) touts the interaction between the love interests as "sensual," and the plot is supposed to be thick with intrigue and danger. Not really. My kind of sensual is not Cameron's version, and the plot is as muddled as mud.

Would I recommend this? For Stella Cameron fans, they'll snatch it up. For me? It's not a good fit.
