Nicky Lesdaux is a rare breed of architect. Instead of engineering houses or skyscrapers, she designs tree houses. Johnny Patrick, notorious playboy and the golden boy of the world of music production, contracts Nicky to build a massive tree house for his daughter, Jordi. After Johnny's drug addict ex-wife takes Jordi to Paris without his permission, Johnny is in dire need of someone who speaks French to help him get his daughter back and Nicky is the woman for the job.
While in Paris, Nicky finds herself mixed up in a crazy world of underground crime and an impossible sexual relationship with The Sexiest Man Alive. How does a normal, level-headed woman deal not only with the dangerous game that she has been thrust into, but also the posh lifestyle that she suddenly finds herself in with Johnny?
I was extremely let down by this book. I can't remember the last time that I read such an anti-climatic story. After turning the last page, I sat looking at the back cover of the book wondering if the last 50 pages were somehow lost or forgotten when they printed the book. Add the fact that the author seemed more intent on expounding on the glitter and glamour of celebrity life than illustrating the make-up of the characters. There was no internal dialogue, no explanation of their psyche. I was left feeling like an abandoned puppy: bewildered and not understanding why things were happening the way they were.
In summation, it’s not worth the time or money. Your cabbage is better spent stuffing $14.00 worth of quarters in the gumball machines outside of your local store and walking away with a handful of plastic pimp necklaces, sticky hands and temporary tattoos.
