Love is Blind: Lynsay Sands

Lady Clarissa Crambray is an accident waiting to happen. In London for the season with her step-mother, Lydia, she is left to flounder through the season blind as a bat. Lydia had purposely broken Clarissa's spectacles and is adamant that, since they make Clarissa ugly, she will have to go without them in order to land a husband.

Adrian Montfort, Earl of Mowbray, has his own physical handicaps to overcome. After one side of his face was scarred in battle 10 years ago, Adrian has been hiding in his country estate, afraid to reenter the society that had fainted at the sight of him. After being nagged by his mother to return to London to find a wife, Adrian bucks the rest of the ton and decides to ignore Clarissa's clumsiness and takes a chance on her.

Due to his disfigurement, Lydia is dead set against Clarissa and Adrian's relationship and they must create lies in order to see each other. As their relationship grows, Adrian begins to believe that Clarissa's accidents are not really accidents at all, but that somebody is using her bad sight as a cover to cause her harm. As both fight their own internal battles with their own self esteem issues with their physical appearances, Adrian and Clarissa are left to figure out who is behind the accidents and wishes her harm.

While the plot is not filled with a lot of depth or twists and turns, the story was entertaining; your typical helpless heroine and the strong hero who plays the part of the knight in shining armor and coddles her. The characters were endearing due to their physical handicaps and the story of their relationship was sweet. If you like to indulge in a cute, mushy romantic tale every once in awhile, then this book is for you.
