Pretty Girl Gone: David Housewright

Rushmore "Mac" McKenzie, who has plenty of money and little to keep him occupied, does "favors" for friends and it usually causes him nothing but trouble, this time more than most. Lindsay Bauer Barrett, one time lover and now wife to Governor Jack Barrett, calls and asks for his help. She received an email claiming that her husband killed his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth Rogers. Now Mac is being chased by thugs, henchmen, and rednecks. Can he figure out whodunit before they kill him?

While this book got off to a great start it was ruined by the lack of imagination in its ending. It was almost as if the author picked the text book ending; no surprise, no flair, just exactly like thousands of others. I knew exactly what was going to happen even before I read it. The only surprise at the end was that he didn't tell his girlfriend that he cheated on her with the Interim Police Chief, Danny Mallinger.
