The Betrayed: David Hosp
Sydney Chapin returns to Washington D.C. to try to fix the strained relationship with her younger sister, Elizabeth. Unfortunately they never get the chance. Elizabeth is tortured and murdered.
Elizabeth was a single mother and reporter for the Washington Post. She was investigating a crime that happened more then 4 decades ago, but she uncovered something more. Her daughter comes home from school to find her mother brutally beaten and tortured with her throat slit so deep it went to her spine. Sydney, now faced with never really knowing her sister, decides to follow the last days of her sister’s life and now her life is in jeopardy.
Sergeant Darius "D" Train and Detective Jack Cassian embark on a twisted and perilous road to discover Elizabeth Creary's murderer. They must also protect Sydney from the murderer because even though she doesn't know anything she's on the right path and getting closer every second. Jack is following in his brothers footsteps and trying to make up for the mistake that cost him his brother. "D" Train was once the ghetto's biggest football hero before he blew out a knee and decided to become a cop. Some people just can't forgive him for that.
This is a roller coaster ride at its best. There are so many twisted clues, and every time you think you have it figured out you realize you are wrong. I was about two chapters from the end of the book when the pieces started clicking in my head.
This is a good story that will keep you guessing and reading to find out who is the real "bad guy". The characters are pretty well written. It takes awhile for the author to explain some things but it is worth the wait.
I'm hoping that I'll see these two detectives again.
