Jamie Lee Carter and her lifetime best friend, Macy McCoy, have taken over the Cut and Curl but there’s something missing in their lives. So they make a pact to go after the things they want most in life.
Hot and hunky Parker Carrington arrives in Hootertown to scout locations for a movie. He pulls to a stop in front of the Cut and Curl and asks Jamie Lee to have lunch with him. She soon realizes that Parker isn't what she really wants but they remain friends. Her big brother Luke's best friend, Griff Sheldon, is her long time crush. She'd handed him her heart once before and he crushed it. Jamie Lee thinks it’s time to try again, but Griff doesn't agree. He thinks he’s being noble and protective but he's just being a man.
This is a hilarious book and so real life; the characters seem real. Everyone in small town America knows these people: the girl who has a crush on her big brother’s best friend; the old lady who still ogles the sexy young men and tells about it; the prom queen who marries the star quarterback and starts having kids, but is jealous of those who wait. It’s filled with southern wit and phrases, irresistible charm, and a storyline that won't put you to sleep.
As with others these days, this is an ongoing series, one I intend to finish. The next book is Real McCoy. It's Macy's story and I can't wait to find out what happens between her and Luke.
