It's hard enough to juggle a career and a relationship in this day and age. So what do you do when you're an Otherworld Guardian, a Demon Lord, and the mate to the leader of the Green Dragon clan? In the third Aisling Grey novel, Katie MacAlister manages to weave humour, sex, and violence into quite an imaginitive tapestry.
Aisling Grey is still adjusting to her role as Guardian, Demon Lord, and wyvern mate. It doesn't help that the demon she is lord over is a cranky bastard in the shape of a shaggy Newfoundland who decides to eat the king of the Imps because he got hungry. On top of that her mate is a domineering and possessive dragon who expects Aisling to meekly abide by his commands. Unfortunately, Aisling doesn't function that way. She loves Drake deeply but she doesn't want to be defined by him and yet she finds herself thrust into the middle of a war brewing between the Green and Red dragons. Things ony get worse when the Guardian's Guild suspends her mentor, Nora, because they feel that Aisling may be a bad (read: channeling demonic energies) influence. Will Aisling be able to sort all the twisting aspects of her life into some semblance of normalcy? Or will she allow herself to succumb to the forces that are at play against her?
I haven't read the two previous novels but I plan to purchase them after reading this one. I was a little apprehensive at first because of the wealth of bad supernatural romance right now but this one was worth it. The sex scenes were good without being overdone and the humour was spot-on and made me laugh out loud a few times. I highly recommend this novel if you like this genre.
