star of the morningMorgan is not your average heroine. She was raised by mercenaries until she was twelve and then lived at a boys orphange for several years and then went to Weger's tower of terror to be trained as a mercenary. She is a sheildmaiden who despises magic. Too bad for her, she's about to get more magic then she can throw an ogre at.

Mochriadhemiach, or Miach, as he's refered to throughout the book, is the brother of King Adhemar and the archmage. When his brother's magic vanishes he sends him on a quest to find the weilder of The Sword of Angesand. When he doesn't hear from Adhemar in more then 2 se'nnights, he decides to look for him. Adhemar has joined a group of travelers and hid his identity. He doesn't realize he travels with the weilder. Miach soon realizes it though and stays on to travel with them. In that time he comes to have feelings for Morgan, but will he be able to send her to her destiny? Or will his heart overrule his duty?

Adhemar is a pompous ass. He is beautiful to look at, but once he opens his mouth it's all forgotten. He believes he is owed everything and it should come to him easily. He finds the weilder even travels with her but never realizes it because he does not like her and doesn't think it can be a "girl". Morgan is a feirce and loyal friend to the few she has. once she sets out on her quest she realizes her friends have been sent to go with her.

This was such a good book. I literally read from cover to cover in 5 hours. I couldn't put it down and when I got to the end, I wanted to cry because I know its going to be awhile before I get the next one. The characters are well written and entertaining. The storyline flows smoothly and keeps you interested long after the book is finished. I like the way Morgan and Miach interact. It's not so far fetched. They don't realize whats happening between them. I can't believe they didn't meet until the 8th chapter. It seemed like it was more.

I loved the aspects with the dreams and tales, like piecing together the puzzle of Morgan's birth. She is the daughter of Gair the ?(something fear inducing), and a Camanaean named Sarait who goaded Gair into opening a well of evil that covered and killed everyone within the sound of his voice, except possibly the little girl. Her bones were never found. The mother tried to sheild the eldest son, but he lived only long enough to crawl away and tell his tale then promptly died

If you like a good fantasy novel, then you should read this book.
