Beware of Virtuous Women: Kasey Michaels
Eleanor Becket was six years old when she was found on a sinking ship and adopted by Ainsley Becket. She is the quiet commander of her family and a great keeper of secrets; her family's and her own. She is the fragile and beautiful shadow that goes unnoticed and unseen, until the man of her dreams needs someone to pretend to be his wife.
Jack Eastwood has his own secrets and suspects there's more to the spinster than meets the eye. When their livelihood is threatened, Jack and Eleanor go up against the man responsible for her childhood troubles and nightmares and risk everything that is dear to them in one desperate gamble to come out on top.
This tale is full of mystery and half-truths. While you can guess at some of the possible outcomes, some are beyond even my imagination.
However, the intrigue is only part of this story's appeal. The characters held my interest throughout and despite the fact this is part of an ongoing series, I had no problem following along with the plot and its many twists. I found this to be enjoyable and a refreshing change of pace from the ho-hum.
If free-trading and marauders (pirates) interest you, you'll enjoy this book.
