Blood Lines: Eileen Wilks
It seems that the last few years have spawned a wealth paranormal fiction centering on the idea that there is so much more on this earth then most of us ever see. In all honesty, only about 25% of these are actually worth the time it takes to read them. Fortunately for you, and me, Eileen Wilks is standing proudly among the most worthy. She has created a fascinating supernatural world that shimmers just below the surface of everyday life.
Blood Lines carries on where Wilks' previous books left off. Rule and Lily have returned from hell, intact but a little worse for wear. They're attempting to rebuild their lives and move along when a strange magical wind blows through the world, forcing werewolves to change and all manners of magic to go haywire. Rule is able to control the change when it hits but another werewolf near him is not so lucky and is forced through the change in the middle of a crowded concert hall. Lily, in her capacity as a federal agent, takes over the situation but it is just the beginining. Cullen and Cynna join her shortly, each having experienced their own odd events at the time of the wind. The four will need each other as forces they've never dealth with arrive, each with an agenda and none of it good.
This book is a continuation of Wilks' previous books so I was a bit lost for some parts. Rather then turn me off though it made me want to grab the other books and suck them up as quickly as possible. Wilks has created a very believable world where werewolves are becoming an accepted part of society and demons are an unfortunate occurence. Her characters have a depth and sensitivity that made me want to know more about them. I was particularly fond of Lily's ancient grandmother who is truly a tigress, and a quite powerful one at that. I do highly suggest this series for anyone who is delving into the paranormal fiction field.
