0892960140.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpgGhostwriter Lee Bartholomew is back in the sequel to 2005’s How to Seduce a Ghost, only this time she’s flown in from London to attend her mother’s wedding…err, commitment ceremony in the Hamptons. As a bonus, the ever-neurotic Lee is hoping she’ll land a memoir by the very reclusive rock legend, Shotgun Marriot.

She’s got plenty of competition from nemesis Bettina Pleshette on that score, but when Shotgun’s son ends up dead on the beach (in a wedding dress!) and Pleshette’s body is found on the star’s estate, the suspect list explodes. Even Frannie, Lee’s stepbrother’s girlfriend, is high on the list since she has a bit of past. Then there’s Frannie’s son, the estate caretaker. And the somewhat odd seamstress, which has a very interesting manuscript in her possession.

The mystery of the killer isn’t exactly a strain on the brain, but it’s complex with the gaggle of offbeat characters flitting in and out of the story. It’s not hard to keep up with the goings-on, either. The pacing is outstanding, and the roster of characters is quite engaging. Lee isn’t exactly the perfect sleuth, and she goes about it in hilarious, witty fashion.

This little gem held my attention to the very end, and I’m looking forward to McIntyre’s next outing.
