0425214230.01._AA180_SCLZZZZZZZ_V39348979_.jpgWe all know with "chicklit" stories can be predictable, and characters can seem to be carbon copies from previous books, but Lori Foster does a wonderful job combining a good story, unique characters, steamy sex scenes, and a little intrigue. I actually had a hard time putting this book down at times for want of knowing what happens next.

Open with extreme fighter Dean "Havoc" Conor contemplating taking advantage of the willing groupie who followed him home after his particularly brutal fight the night before. Spotting the envelope with the address of his boyhood home, Dean's past comes rushing back, and he finds himself heading to the hometown he hasn't seen since he was orphaned at age 9, and the two sisters who remained behind. Sweet motherly Cam and spunky Jackie were very young when Dean was whisked away with an uncle, and they remained behind to be raised by their Aunt Lorna. Though Dean wants to know the reason for Cam's desperate letter, he has no intention of getting involved and taking on the role of big brother. Finding his childhood home has lacked upkeep, and Lorna resenting his sudden appearance, Dean decides to stick around long enough to find out where the money left for the girls has gone. After meeting Cam's best friend, Eve, he begins to find reasons to stick around longer.

What makes this book good is the transformation of aloof, distant Dean to caring big brother able to open his heart to family as well as Eve. The relationships with his sisters bring more depth to the plot then your typical boy-gets-girl story. There's also a side romance brewing with little sister Jackie and a rude, crude fellow fighter named Gregor. As obnoxious as he sounds, he is quite loveable and his moments with Jackie are downright laugh-out-loud. Last but not least, throw in loathsome Roger who is determined to marry Cam. Nasty Aunt Lorna seems to like that idea and doing her best to convince Cam that's just what she needs.

This book trots along at a brisk pace. It's fun, intriguing, and the characters are very rich and visual, not to mention there's enough hanky panky to get you a little warm under the collar! Pure guilty entertainment!
