Just Like Heaven: Barbara Bretton
Kate is late for an appointment at Princeton and can't find any clean underwear except the red lace thong that her mother embarrassed her with at her last birthday party. In her rush to get there, she cuts off a man in a Grateful Dead t-shirt and a beat-up, old blue car. As she's walking through the parking lot, she realizes something is wrong and promptly drops because she's having a heart attack.
Father Mark is on his way to an AA meeting when he is cut off by a woman in a hurry. While getting out of his car he looks over at her and sees her fall. He rushes to her and realizes she needs help fast...and that her skirt is up around her waist revealing a cute pair of tiny red lace thongs.
This book had a lot going for it; a strong opening, hilarious dialogue between Kate and her daughter and Kate and her mother, and a seemingly decent plotline. Then it started to dissipate. Something I cannot stand happened -- the author (being decidedly unoriginal) copied Grey's Anatomy by referring to Mark as Father Mcdreamy. Repeatedly. I lost interest not long after, due to the forward motion of the plot coming almost to a halt. The author repeated herself over and over; how it was too soon, they couldn't be in love after only seven days, and how the preacher needed closure from his old life, and how Kate wouldn't know love if it hit her on the head. It became monotonous and ruined the story for me.
If your looking for just another romance and a few laughs here you go.
