159532870X.01._AA240_SCLZZZZZZZ_.jpgDuan Surk has never managed to get past level two. For years now he’s been stuck on the same level, fighting noting but green slimes to pass the time. Though, when he gets trapped in the Witches Forest with his young grinia Check, he begins to wonder if his life had been wasted as a fighter. Luckily for him, he meets up with a level thirteen fighter known as Olba October, who allows Duan to follow him around.

Though, when they both meet up with a young witch named Agnis, perhaps their luck had turned sour. They quickly find themselves stuck in the home of the witches who own the forest, fighting many dolls in the forms of strong monsters. Will they be able to defeat the witches, and end the curse put on Agnis’ mother? Or will they outsmart Duan’s group, putting their lives to an early end?

I guess the whole idea of actual people gaining levels was strange to me. Give me a good book based in an online role playing game -- such as the .hack series -- and I’ll fall in love. But a book with people in a game...but not in a game? Too weird for me, which is a lot coming from a girl who can burst out laughing about something that happened a month ago.

The book was okay overall. It wasn’t great, but I might think about reading the sequel. If you’re into books written for the younger audiences or looking for a book for a son or daughter, by all means get it. Otherwise, this book isn’t for you.
