Jade Tiger: Jenn Reese
245jadetiger.jpg For many generations the Sanctuary of the Jade Circle provided a place of knowledge and strength for women, in a place where women were not often allowed access to such mysteries. Empowered by the mystical energies contained within 5 jade animals, the circle grew strong and eventually developed enemies as men were not permitted to learn the mysteries of the jade animals. When the sanctuary comes under attack and the guardian is murdered the animals become scattered to the four corners and one little girl is left with the responsibility of reclaiming the animals and rebuilding the circle.

Shan Westin was forced to flee the sanctuary with her American father at age 12. For the next 15 years they both dedicated their lives and money to ascertain the whereabouts of her mother, only to receive confirmation finally that she was dead. Shan began an arduous career in martial arts, training in every style she could find, knowing that one day she would need the training to locate and recover the jade animals. When she discovers the location of the jade crane she goes to recover it, only to find that the same man who destroyed the circle 15 years ago is also on a search for the animals. When the current owner of the crane, archaeologist Ian Dashell, is tossed into her path she gains an ally in her search. What she doesn't count on is falling in love with Ian. The two criss-cross the earth in their search for the remaining animals but is Shan strong enough for the final battle she will have to face with the man who murdered her mother and changed the course her life.

Jade Tiger is part of the new fantasy imprint Juno which features strong women and compelling plots. Being the first of our reviews for this imprint, it sets a high expectation for future releases. The author did a beautiful job of choreographing both the fight scenes and the love scenes, blending them seamlessly in a fast-paced story that is sure to keep you on the edge-of-your-seat.
