The moment Texas socialite Delaney Cartwright touches the veil, she knows she can't go through with her wedding. And it's not just because she envisions a stranger's dark eyes and irresistible lips the second her fingers hit lace. But she can't simply call the whole thing off. The nuptials to her nice, predictable childhood friend are the social event of the season (not to mention that her mother would freak). To fan the flames of this dying ember, Delaney abducts her fiancé for a night of passion...and grabs the wrong guy! It isn't her fault that Detective Nick Vinetti of the oddly familiar eyes and lips has crossed her path--and looks game for all kinds of sexy fun.

Now Delaney hatches an outrageous plan to get out of marrying: she'll hire her own kidnapper. With an altar to avoid and a cope to dream of, this runaway bride is hoping a little Irish magic will unveil the true destiny of her heart.

Loved it, loved it, loved it. I can't put a finger on the exact reasons, but something about this story wouldn't let me put the book down. I think it was more the characters than the story itself which drew me in.

While Delaney was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, her down to earth personality made her easily likable. Then we have Nick. The author's comparison of Nick to Gerard Butler (Phantom of the Opera, Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life) made me instantly love the guy. How can you make a comparison to a hot, Scottish man like Gerard Butler and not expect a woman's heart to kick up a notch and root for the guy?

The only problem I had with the book was a certain scene in which both parties took their underwear off, but 2 pages later, they were separated by layers of underwear that somehow miraculously reappeared on both characters. Hmm.....must be that Irish magic at work again. But that's just me being anal, I guess. I hope this minor error is corrected in the final published version.

All in all, if your out for a fun read, give your significant other a honey-do list (or just lock him out of the house for a day), lock the kids in their rooms, and snuggle up with a cup of hot chocolate and enjoy.
