Dr. Cogan looked up from the manila folder. The prisoner was waiting for her next question with an eager grin, his gold-flecked eyes shining, looking for all the world like a man enjoying a terrific first date. Ulysses Christopher Maxwell, Jr. – Max, for short – is a 12-time serial killer with a taste for strawberry blondes. Max isn’t the only resident in his head, though. He’s got several alter egos in there to keep him company. For instance, there’s Lyssy…molested at a young age by friends of her parents…right in front of her parents. Yep. Max has some issues.

Arrested for these crimes, he’s currently sitting in lockup with the prison shrink, Dr. Cogan. She’s trying to help him to find out why he committed all these murders, and he really does open up to her with all of his alters…except for Christopher. He has only one thing on his mind: "to rape her repeatedly, tie her, pose her, costume her, beat her, torture her, penetrate her and insert foreign objects into her over and over until death.” Dr. Cogan is a strawberry blonde.

FBI Special Agent E.L. Pender is determined to stop this lunatic. For the last ten years he’s been investigating the disappearances of twelve women, searching for the mystery man whom they were last seen with. When Max breaks out of prison and goes on the run – taking Dr. Cogan with him as hostage – it’s up to Pender to stop him one last time before the good doctor ends up being Victim Number 13.
