After Hugh and Lilith succesfully stopped Lucifer's plans and helped seal the gate between Hell and Chaos for the agreed time of five-hundred years, they had hoped that things might settle down. It seemed that a calm had descended, until the vampire Colin Ames-Beaumont received an instant message from Savitri Murray, who was flying high above on her way from India to London. There was a nosferatu on board the plane and Savi had learned enough in the previous eight months to know that this wouldn't end well. Though her quick thinking saved the lives of the passengers she unknowingly set off physical and psychological changes in her own body that begin to draw her and Colin closer. When Colin's month's long obession with Savi is revealed she will have to make decisions that completely turn all that she thought she needed and wanted into something unrecognizable.

When Savi becomes aware of the nosferatu presence on the plane, and the likelihood that the plane won't be making a safe landing, she springs into action but the only weapons she has at hand are her laptop and a vial of hellhound venom. After cracking the laptop to remove the spool of copper wire inside she plans to garotte the beast and inject it with the venom but her only means of delivery is to spray it in with her mouth. The result is that she inadvertantly ingests a measure of hellhound venom and nosferatu blood. The ill-effects of this plan don't begin to emerge for sometime but by then it's too late. The wyrmwolves have gained her scent and are using a crack in the Chaos portal to come after her. Colin declares himself her protector but is it for her, or for his own selfish reasons? As the foreign chemicals begin to interact and affect her body the idea is put forth to convert Savi into a vampire, but no one is sure what would happen due to her tainted blood and Colin can't do it for her. He learned his own painful lessons two hundred years ago when he found that his own blood was tainted by Chaos and burns to death both humans and vampires alike when ingested. As Savi and Colin work together with Hugh and Lilith to close the gap in Chaos and restore the balance, the tie between them begins to bind tighter and tighter until they finally run out of time and options. Will their bodies and souls be strong enough to shoulder the choices they are forced to make?

This novel is a follow-up to Demon Angel and as with many sequels may be a bit confusing. The story follows two of the supporting characters from the previous novel and the previous leads play supporting roles here. It works out well though and I truly enjoyed the firestorm relationship between Colin and Savi. The heat between them plays out well and the affection between them feels truly genuine. The action is quick and bloody as one would expect from a vampire novel and the story is full of demons and creatures that are familiar but given a new twist. Unlike the end of the first book however, I'm unsure how she might be able to pull out another sequel but I certainly hope that she find a way because I really enjoy her writing and I say that very rarely about anything that involves a love scene. I have to say though, I still don't like the damnable cover.
