51bF02wXKIL._AA240_.jpgOne woman alone holds the power to undo the hundred-year-old curse of a deathless army. Maerose, a beautiful and resilient maiden, must repel this evil horde by mating with a man of faith -- on Samhain Eve, at the gates of hell. Unleashed, the girl's dormant magic can save the world. But a demonic madman hungry for power threatens to doom them all . . .

The theme of mating to save the world from unimaginable doom is nothing new and thus is the story of this short novel. In the beginning there is an interestingly good tale of the roots of this particular predicament that has been placed upon the world. The scrolls were written, no survivors were found and of course the instruction manual on how to save the world is full of cryptic riddles and various destinies.

One hundred years later -- not ninety-nine or fifty-two -- but one hundred, a typical number, a half-hearted description of a woman being captured by the evil elders offers a tantalizing taste of what we hope may happen or at least what this sadistic mind wishes. Bound, gagged and tossed into the back of a cart, Maerose finds herself helpless and alone even in her furious struggling. A journey is made and 'lo and behold, the end result is a corrupt elder who wishes to take her innocence over and over again and just to make sure that he can rule the world by controlling the undead, he will rape her at the crevice of the underworld.

The good guy saves the day only to end up giving poor Maerose a touch of the Zelda complex; leaving one form of bondage only to be thrust into another. Oh darn, it is such a hard job being a wanton virginal prisoner. The hero turns out to be a nice guy but he has to make sure that he stays with her to finish the mission. So what does he do? He 'trains' her powers by screwing her over and over again with quite delicious sex scenes.

The journey is made with a few bumps along the way; he gets a few more tastes of his now-willing prisoner and by their 'union' they are able to expand her magic. The big moment arrives and there are no fireworks compared to the earlier sex scenes. Such a disappointment. Poof the bad guy goes, and the world is saved again...or at least until the next horrid sequel.

At a mere 175 pages, this book was a complete letdown. Saskia could have expanded upon tons of arenas and at least made the last save-the-world fuck a bit more descriptive and mindblowing. The book started with a great story that tumbled downhill after the second chapter. Her characters have little to no personality and I do believe that I enjoyed the simple dialogue of the hellish demons moreso than the rest of the humans.

All in all, it would make a good quick read that would be perfectly placed on the top of a toilet.
