trouble.jpgSaving lives is Jonah Stem's job--but he usually does it at the hospital, not at 2:45 A.M. on the dark streets of Manhattan. When he impulsively intervenes to save a beautiful woman from a man menacing her with a knife, killing the attacker in the process, he is transformed from an overworked medical student to a hero in the media spotlight. The woman, Eve Gones, is profoundly grateful and wants to show it. Before long, they're engaged in a wildly passionate love affair. An affair that Eve doesn't want to end. Ever. And the DA has some questions about his heroic act. It's been said that no good deed goes unpunished. Jonah Stem's punishment is just beginning...

A beautiful helpless woman is crawling in a dark alleyway, blood dripping slowly from her body from obvious wounds while the red-tinged glint of a knife is seen held above her as if waiting to go for a fourth or fifth stab wound...what would you do? Any man with a touch of compassion, a death wish or a large set of egotistical balls would rush into to the fray. This is exactly what Jonah Stem does, a knight in dingy hospital scrubs, makes his way to the wounded Eve Gones with a touch of adrenaline dancing about his already bloodshot and exhausted gaze. A hero is born and hot damn she's a hottie!

Oh no, you are not going to get too many details from this review for this is one of those must reads that I REFUSE to spoil! Eve Gones is the woman that most men dream of but be careful what you wish for...there are always loopholes to every wish granted. Then again, what guy wouldn't want to have a beautiful woman in his arms every...single...night. Sure she fakes it but come on, at least she puts out and pretends to be interested in you right? And where exactly does she work...oh yeah that's not THAT important. What about her phone number...unlisted and why does she always come over to your place?

After reading this I am quite sure that any male would have many nightmares about Miss Eve Gones coming to reality in one of their own ex-girlfriends. She is the ultimate ex-girlfriend! The author writes with such passion that I could not help but feel for Jonah while the descriptions of the twisted Eve only whetted my appetite for more. He continued to throw one loop after another where I wasn't sure if I was in a porn flick, a vampire novel or Hannibal Lector's girlfriend's head. The only drawback to this novel is that the end seems rushed though I will admit I did enjoy it, I only wish that it had the descriptive splendor that the rest of the tale had.
