Book DescriptionThe streets of New York are full of characters who don't mince words-or care who hears them. This collection presents some of the most outlandish real life conversations overheard on the sidewalk, in the subway, and at the next table. It's the Big Apple peeled, a hysterically unvarnished portrait of the city that never sleeps-and often neglects to think before it speaks in public.
New York is one of those rare places where an overheard conversation is a regular part of a persons day. You can't miss them. With so many people sharing sidewalks, subways, and space in restaurants it's almost impossible to keep anything private and and as the creators of Overheard in New York show, most New Yorkers don't even bother.
The book is divided up between the Interiors, the Underground, and the Streets of New York. The entire book consists of snippets of conversation that have literally been overheard and subsequently submitted to the Overheard website. Some of them are almost too ridiculous to be believed and some made me laugh so hard I almost spit my coffee on the book. The book is an easy read, given that it isn't anything more then sound bites but will definitely brighten your day.
