Unquiet Dreams: Mark Del Franco
After almost getting himself and his Boston detective "partner" Murdock killed, things have been quiet for Connor Grey. They never stay that way for long though. Even without most of his Druidic abilities Connor still does what he can to help those in need on both sides of the Fae, and most of the time it's just enough to get him into trouble.
Connor is called to the scene of a dead teenage boy in a field in the middle of the Weird, Boston's neighborhood for all that isn't normal. Immediately after he and Murdock are called to come to the scene of a grisly murder. A high-level elven ambassador has been brutally slain in the offices where he strove to bring peace between all the races. It seems obvious that someone didn't share his ideas of peace. As with many things though, what is obvious isn't always correct. Connor knows that there is a connection between the dead boy and the slain elf but can he prove it? The resources of his tiny flit friend Joe will prove invaluable as Connor races to find the killer, track down the source of a new drug that's infiltrating the Weird, and stop the warring factions of the Fae from tearing each other apart.
I'm pleased to say that I wasn't in the least disappointed in this follow-up to Unshapely Things. DelFranco did a fabulous of keeping me on the edge of my seat though I do think that he needs to start honing in on whatever it is that's blocking Connor's head. It's driving me nuts! But other then that, the book was fun; a great story and I love Joe. How can you not love a little pink-winged dude named Stinkwort who prefers to be called Joe? It's all kinds of awesome.
