The Jigsaw Man: Gord RolloMichael Fox is a homeless man about to play chicken with a train so his estranged daughter can collect his life insurance. He's stopped by a man named Drake, who offers him the chance to better his life: 2 million dollars for his right arm. And if the choice is his life for fifty grand or a limb for two mil, Michael can make the better of the decision pretty quickly.

Dr. Marshall is trying to find new donor limbs for his deformed son, having perfected a means of keeping amputated limbs alive and viable for extended periods. But the doctor has been stripped of his license to practice, thus the need to proposition the homeless and the fortified private lab in upstate New York with the brutal security force. That, and the little fact that the doctor likes to take more than he pays his donors for. And when you cross the doctor, he'll take a piece from you. And to keep you from leaving, he'll take a piece from you. And to make you behave, he'll take a piece from you...

Oh my god, back the fun bus the f*** up! Gord Rollo has given us such an enjoyable retooling of the Frankenstein's monster/mad scientist story that you should buy him a drink every time you see him, even if you are related to him by blood. A very likable protagonist and a first-person narrative that puts you right in the middle of the story keep the book from getting slow or boring, and scenarios are intelligently set-up and push the event progression in a logical manner. There's plenty of gore between the covers here and this would be such a non-stop pukefest on the big screen that I'm praying that the film rights get optioned, provided Rollo pens the screenplay. Plus there's dirty bum sex, severed heads getting raped and Sterno abuse, what else do you really need?
