Returned from Rome and with the blood of Beauregard flowing through her veins, Victoria Gardella Grantworth finds herself with a new and unforeseen enemy; the vampires have learned how to move through London sunlight undetected by the powers of the Venators.
With their new powers the daylight body count begins to rise but the bloody hand points to Victoria and the Bow Street Runners are all but convinced that Victoria is the prime suspect. With Sebastian returned to the fold of the Venators and Max powerless in order to avoid the thrall of Lilith, Victoria is overwhelmed by the responsibilities of her position. All eyes are on Victoria now as she once again takes her place as the Illa Gardella, even if it means sacrificing herself and her own happiness, to save the lives of even those who would see her dead.
More importantly though, can Colleen Gleason keep the tight thread of suspense and drama going without sacrificing any of the sweet, silly humor and and breathless love scenes that we've come to expect? I don't think her readers will be at all disappointed in this fourth installment. It seems that Colleen and Victoria are both charmed souls.
