Confessions of a Working Girl: Miss S

Rating: 2 stars

Confessions of a Working Girl: Miss SWhat's a cash-strapped English university student to do when she needs money? If your Miss S you take your sex-needy self down to the local brothel and begin raking in cash hand over fist. Working in a clean, well-guarded brothel isn't all fun and games though, as Miss S finds out in her first year as a sex-worker.

Written in the style of a diary, the book chronicles Miss S's first year as a hooker in a higher-class establishment. She was fresh out of her virginity and looking to make a little money to support her art school lifestyle. The environment and pay seem to be too good to be true. Things aren't as glamorous as the may seem though, as Miss S must forge ahead through difficult clients, jealous co-workers, and some health scares that would send most running.

If this book had come out ten years ago, when it took place, this might have been fresh and interesting. However, in these days of tell-all's and confessionals from everyone out there with a secret, this book simply seemed like another attempt to grub a little bit more money out of the public. The writing isn't particularly captivating and Miss S herself doesn't have a personality that grabs the reader.

In a time when every hooker has a blog, you're better off reading those then spending time on a book that is so shallow and leaves you feeling so flat at the end.
