Imola: Richard Satterlie Imola picks up where Agnes Hahn left off. Agnes has now been committed to the Napa State psychiatric hospital, known as Imola. Dr. April Leahy continues to treat Agnes and her multiple personality disorder that involves the assumption of her dead twin sister, Lilin. Lilin is a vicious serial killer who believes all men are evil and need to be punished.

Wielding a straight razor, Lilin lures her victims with her wiley ways, slits their throats, then cuts off their members to pleasure herself with. Reporter, Jason Powers, continues to be a part of Agnes life and is torn between his opportunistic relationship with Dr. Leahy and the love he has for Agnes.

Although Agnes has made excellent progress with her thearpy, Lilin refuses to release her hold and is just biding her time before she takes full control and silences Agnes forever. The opportunity to escape Imola finally presents itself and Lilin plans to disappear; but first there are a few loose ends that need to be tied up--loose ends also known as April Leahy and Jason Powers. However, Lilin is in for a surprise. Agnes is gathering her strength to fight her maniacal sister to get her life back and protect the man she loves.

Although Imola is a sequel, it reads perfectly fine as a stand-alone; however, reading Agnes Hahn is a good introduction to the characters and Agnes' background. Now that I’ve read my second Satterlie book, I have a better feel for his writing and find him to be entertaining and quite adept at the psychological thriller genre. Nothing was gratutious or overdone and even I didn't see this ending coming.
