With the highly anticipated third season of True Blood ready to kick off in June and having already watched the mini-reminder episode, I was left with nothing to do but surf the net and saw what many of you may have already heard about: a True Blood comic book.
Alan Ball, True Blood series creator notes that the comics will allow them to do all the things they are unable to accomplish in the show due to budgetary constraints. Although the continuity will be similar between TV and comic, the stories will be different.
Not a big fan of the comic or graphic novel, I can appreciate good art when I see it; however, the varied styles have me a bit confused. One cover looks Disney-esque, Bill has a single fang, Eric looks like he’s having a sneezing fit, Jason looks like Stan Laurel and Sookie looks like somebody else. One cover looks pretty good and yet another looks straight out of Mad magazine.
The comics are a collaborative effort between IDW and HBO. Go to MTV.com to check out the first six pages of the first issue http://www.mtv.com/photos/true-blood-comic-preview/1639115/4860854/photo.jhtml
