Exit Light: Megan Hart

Rating: 3 stars

Exit Light: Megan Hart In Exit Light, Megan Hart takes the reader on a journey through Ephemeros, the place where all dreamers go. In Ephemeros a dreamer has limitless possibilities for creating their surroundings and personal appearance. Guides are available for dreamers who need direction or help escaping a nightmare—Tovah Connelly was once such a dreamer.

Tovah was introduced to the Ephmeros by a fellow patient, Henry, during her long recovery from a horrible car accident that cost Tovah her leg and her marriage. Henry (aka Spider) has been teaching another sleeper, Ben, to become a powerful shaper and guide. Despite Ben and Spider’s urging for Tovah to do the same, she feels she has responsibility in her waking life and chooses to just have fun creating things for herself.

When the world of Ephemeros begins to be ripped apart by a young boy trapped in a nightmare, Tovah’s waking world begins to resemble her dreams. With time running out, Tovah must rethink her priorities in order to save those she cares about and preserve the only place where she can feel whole again.

Lucid dreaming isn’t a new concept, but it’s an interesting one. Exit Light contains the beauty of What Dreams May Come with the darkness of The Cell. Megan Hart does a good job of creating a SIMS-like dream world where, with enough practice, you can create your own haven.

Although Exit Light isn’t para-romance, Tovah has a few hot moments with her mystery lover and there is plenty of heart and emotion to make up for anything else PR lovers might think they’re missing.
