The Grim Reaper’s Dance: Judy Clemens

Rating: 4 stars (Spotlight Review)

Grim Reapers Dance: Judy Clemens
Badly injured and shocked by the absolute chaos that just played out in Clymer, Casey and Death go back to the burger joint at the edge of town and hitch a ride with trucker, Evan Taub.

Despite leaving one disaster behind, Casey is about to enter into yet another one when Taub’s semi crashes into construction vehicles randomly parked in the middle of the road.

Evan is fatally wounded by the twisted metal of the cab and just before Death takes him, Evan makes Casey promise that she won’t let them get it, giving her a cryptic location of something hidden in the truck. Just as Evan takes his last breath, the doors are wrenched open and a group of men pull Casey out to frisk her; while screaming at Evan not to die.

With help from some locals, Casey locates the truck wreckage and finds what Evan had been hiding: an envelope with photos, trucking manifests and other documentation. Not yet sure of what type of illicit operation she has uncovered, Casey will do whatever it takes to bring the bad guys to justice and ensure that Evan didn’t die in vain.

Grim Reapers Dance is the second in a series and once again Judy Clemens does not disappoint. Although the trucker plot line wasn’t the most exciting, it still contained the same great action and entertainment that Embrace the Grim Reaper had. (review below)

The relationship between Casey and Death, as well as Casey’s life pre and post-car-accident is woven seamlessly into the story without bogging it down in repetition of the first book or becoming dark and depressing.

Judy Clemens has officially claimed me as a fan. I anxiously await the third installment.
