Everybody knows the old saying, “A woman is more likely to get killed by a terrorist than to get married over the age of 35.”
Although that little gem used to be (almost) funny back in the day, it illustrates just how much things have changed: terrorism is a very real and all too common threat, and getting married over the age of 35 is no longer the exception.
Despite the economy being in the toilet and jobs disappearing faster than a politician's promise, one thing hasn’t changed: the desire to meet “The One”.
There's certainly no shortage of books out there claiming to be the authority on how to lure Mr. Right into being bagged and tagged, but many of them focus on younger women and most of the advice is usually far-fetched and ridiculous. Ann Blumenthal Jacobs, Patricia Ryan Lampl and Tish Rabe—part of a group they call “The Garter Brides”, based on a lucky garter that saw them, as well as other friends, married within months of each other—filled the void by writing a book aimed at the more life-experienced woman in her 30s and beyond, whom have created a life for themselves; and would like to share that life with someone special.
Love for Grown-ups is a comprehensive guide packed with good advice for blending your established life with someone you love. Rather than focusing on secondary isues, such as how to turn him on in the bedroom, the authors discuss very important and necessary topics that make up the cornerstone of a strong relationship such as: financial decisions, living arrangements, wills, children, debt and lifestyles.
These three ladies have used their own experiences, and that of many other women, to put together a real-life—and more importantly realistic—approach to finding the love of your life after the age of 35, helping you build the happy and fulfilling relationship you deserve.
